I have been looking into the subliminal messaging employed in the Aftermath series, each episode of which contains at least one subliminal sequence. A & E also offers some Aftermath “Bonus” videos which employ a subliminal sequence. Below is a transcript of Leah Remini: Scientology & the Aftermath – Bulldog Determination (Bonus) | A&E. Emotionally charged profiling terms are flashed as text items on screen for approximately 41 to 42 milliseconds per item.¹

After downloading the Youtube video I used open source video editing software² to extract the relevant footage as still frames, to record the time codes for each frame in terms down to milliseconds, and to summarize the technical information on my captured and produced video:

CC: My name is Christie Collbran, and I was a Scientologist for 36 years. And I’m Mike Rinder’s wife.

I was doing courses and um you know, taking counseling at the age of ten years old.

LR: Right, right.

CC: So I was like indoctrinated from the beginning. This is the way we live. And um so by the age of sixteen I was in the Sea Org. That was like considered the best possible thing I could do in our family.

LR: Right.

CC: And it was just horrible.

You should just be able to walk out the door. You should just be able to get up and say “I am done. I’m leaving. Good-bye.” Just like you can anywhere else. Any other job. “I quit.” And leave. But you can’t. There’s pressure to stay.

People are dedicating their lives pretty much to helping mankind. And we were ALL miserable.

LR: Right.

CC: Supposedly we have the you know answers to making everybody free and happy and all of us there using this amazing technology were all miserable. And we’re all bad.

LR: Part of the Scientology teachings is not to be emotional towards things. Not to see yourself as a, as a victim or survivor. But rather to look at yourself in a way of what you can fix. What you’ve done wrong. Like it’s so harmful, to your mind. Because you’re always thinking how bad you are. That there’s something wrong with you that needs to be fixed.

MR: Right.

LR: And the good side of Scientology that, that that is they’re now dealing with is the fact that I will not let [mute] go. If I find some untruth, or a half-truth, or omitted truth, I will [mute: f–king] find it.

And that’s the part that Scientology is going to have a hard time dealing with, with people like me, people like you and many others who have continued to speak out against it, is “You taught this in us!” Find the thing and peel that onion–

MR: Right…

LR: –because you will get to the truth.

And I think that’s the part that they’re now kicking themselves, going [makes grimacing face and expression].
