After downloading the Youtube video I used open source video editing software² to extract the relevant footage as still frames, to record the time codes for each frame in terms down to milliseconds, and to summarize the technical information on my captured and produced video:

LR: People do ask how did David Miscavige come into power? There was an organizational structure that was put in place by L. Ron Hubbard. Ah, so that no one person was in charge.

MR: Right.

LR: And there were checks and balances, right?

MR: Correct.

LR: Right. That, just to make sure that nobody really was the leader. David took that out immediately.

MR: He managed to manipulate and maneuver getting rid of anybody in a position who could check him.

LR: Yeah.

MR: And that very very much included the Internal Revenue Service.

DM: On October the first, the IRS issued letters recognizing Scientology and EVERY ONE OF ITS ORGANIZATIONS AS FULLY TAX EXEMPT!]

MR: It was vital for him to gain religious recognition, or tax exempt status for Scientology.

He could promote that he had accomplished what L. Ron Hubbard hadn’t been able to accomplish. And stand in front of the adoring crowds and say, “I pulled it off. Sir, I did it.”

But it also removed the only real oversight there is into Scientology.

The IRS cannot go in and order a church. An exempt organization doesn’t have to provide any information to the public about what do they do with their money.

ASL: I was led to believe the IRS had been persecuting Scientology forever. And David Miscavige was now the first one to ever make the IRS recognize Scientology as being fully tax exempt.

Scientology did have tax exemption before. And it took it away, because it found L. Ron Hubbard was using the money for his own personal gain.
