The first time this was ever done was in an Academy. A student suddenly came down with measles; only the doctor couldn't find anything wrong with the student. And I got very clever about this time and asked the burning question, "What had this student been doing just before these measles broke out?" And I found out that the (quote) "auditor" in that particular case had blown the session. Blown the session! The auditor had blown the session. Get somebody halfway through a measles engram and … [Read more...] about Lecture: Raw Meat: Troubleshooting Cases (June 28, 1961)

Lecture: The Mind: Its Structure In Relation To Thetan And MEST (July 26, 1957)
I remember when Dianetics first came out, I received a tremendous number of letters. I haven’t received too many letters quoting on this same phenomena since. But for. some reason or other, people were obsessed for a couple of years with throwing their wives into measles engrams and then taking them to doctors who would then say, "Your wife, I would say, had the measles except there is no respiratory congestion." Had all the spots, had the fever, had everything else and it’d be a case of measles … [Read more...] about Lecture: The Mind: Its Structure In Relation To Thetan And MEST (July 26, 1957)
Lecture: Research Report: Radiation And Its Relationship To Processing (November 9, 1956)
Now, you think of this atomic radiation as something that floats through the air with the greatest of ease, blown hither and yon by the winds of the world. Therefore, it requires a long time for it to arrive, and the distribution of these particles are entirely dependent upon being wafted hither and thither. They all have to do with fallout, "which is being carefully watched." We used to just almost laugh ourselves hysterical in Phoenix. "We don't understand why there is any public hysteria, … [Read more...] about Lecture: Research Report: Radiation And Its Relationship To Processing (November 9, 1956)
Lecture: Radiation (November 5, 1956)
The difficulty here is that there is a curve which follows the level of sanity and the level of absorbed radiation. And these curves do seem to be parallel. The more radiation which a person absorbs, the less sanity he can be expected to exhibit. It does seem this is the case. He goes down Tone Scale[1. Definition: Tone Scale], and he goes down rather rapidly. Well, is there any place one could make a halt with this? Is there any process that could be used to stop this? Well, currently we … [Read more...] about Lecture: Radiation (November 5, 1956)
