Memorandum: Church of Scientology IS (January 28, 1974)

NOTE: [Redacted] were members and employees of the CS and have served in that organization’s headquarters in England. They became disenchanted and returned to the U.S. [redacted] furnished Chicago information regarding the organization of which is divided into several bureaus including an intelligence bureau which, according to [redacted] is engaged in international espionage activities. He claimed this bureau has tons of stolen government documents including classified material. Although Chicago is not initiating further contact with [redacted] that office requested the Bureau to determine from [redacted] if the CS is of interest to that organization. Above instructions necessary to insure any allegations arising from information supplied by [redacted] are handled in an appropriate manner.
