Magazine article: Captain’s Field Briefing (2008)

Neighborhood Campaign Report

Nearly 600 local Scientologists flooded into the Flag Pavilion for this month’s Captain’s Field Briefing and the latest report card from the Clearwater Neighborhood In-Charges.

The Captain’s Field Briefing is the field event of the month for the Scientologists of Tampa Bay. It’s the only place to get the inside story of what’s happening at Flag behind the scenes, the future expansion plans, both near and further down the track, and to be a part of the most active community of Scientologists on Earth.

When we speak of that active community around Flag, it goes hand-in-glove with the very program that spurred that community into action: The Neighborhood Campaign. It’s now an interwoven part of the Flag fabric, something that anyone in the org will tell you is the backbone of what makes Flag’s local field so alive and special.

NEIGHBORHOOD REPORT CARD

Since the launch of the Neighborhood Campaign at the start of the year, Clearwater Neighborhood teams have been dedicatedly getting all Scientologists rounded up and on course studying the Basics, while getting the word out about Scientology into their communities.

And they are definitely making their presence felt. For the quick overview, the statistics say it all:

“The latest Neighborhood Map of Clearwater, courtesy of Google Earth, makes it possible for Neighborhood I/Scs to contact all Scientologists in their zone and get them connected up, on the Basics and winning. …”

  • Over 10,000 Basics courses completed by local Scientologists.
  • Over 50 New OT VII completions from the local field since the Basics release.
  • Unprecedented support of the IAS, with five new Silver Meritorious, six new Gold Meritorious and two new Platinum Meritorious – not to mention the dozens more Crusaders, Sponsors, Patrons and Patrons Meritorious. And all from the local Clearwater field just since the launch of the Neighborhood Campaign!

It’s field activity at a new order of magnitude.

TOP NEIGHBORHOODS

Out of the 38 Clearwater neighborhoods, two distinguished themselves this month with the highest percentage of Scientologists on the Basics, the most completions on the Full Basics Book and Lectures lineup and the most dissemination of LRH and Scientology out into their communities. Very well done to Sherry Van Hootegan and Kathy Shadd from 18 North, and to Jamie Blackstone from 1 North, as our top Neighborhoods of the Month! Who’s next? Find out at the next Captain’s Field Briefing. 1

“The now-famous Clearwater Neighborhood Campaign is going everywhere. From South Africa to Switzerland and from Hungary to Australia, Scientologists everywhere are hitting the streets to get their neighbors on course and winning with the Basics. Following the exact pattern established at Flag, many orgs are already building their Scientology field and getting everyone on the same page— literally. And YOU can do the same. Want a booming Scientology community in your areas? Then take it to the streets with the Basics.”
