Letter: FBI SAC J. Gordon Shanklin to Senior Resident Agent, Naval Investigative Service (February 26, 1968)

Allegations have been made that the activities of the Hubbard Dianetic Research Foundation are of particular interest to sexual perverts, hypochondriacs, and are also subscribed to by a goodly number of curiosity seekers. Several individuals, including Sara Northrup, have alleged Hubbard is mentally incompetent. Under date of March 14, 1951, the Department of Law and Safety, Board of Medical Examiners, State of New Jersey, advised this bureau that it had a case against the Hubbard Dianetics Research Foundation, Incorporated, which was due for trial in Union County District Court, Elizabeth, New Jersey, March 27, 1951. The foundation was charged with conducting a school teaching a branch of medicine and surgery without possession a license. This bureau has not been advised as to the results of this court action.
