Letter: FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover to [?] re HASI (May 9, 1958)

NOTE: Correspondent not identifiable in Bufiles. Stamped self-addressed envelope being used for reply. L. Ron Hubbard, who has been described as mentally ill, has given widespread publicity to his Association which alleges that mental illness can be cured through a new system of treatment he developed. He states that his discovery is to present-day man equivalent to what the discovery of fire was to primitive man. We have not investigated this association though files contain numerous citizen inquiries regarding it.
