Professor Inbau and Mr. Reid, both of whom are well known in the field, describe the use of the lie-detector technique in the investigation of crimes and in private industry to detect employee stealing or to screen applicants for employment. In the hands of a qualified examiner, they contend, the lie-detector technique offers a valuable and reliable aid.
