Clay Pigeon

CLAY PIGEON, any staff member who does not know ethics policy is a clay pigeon. Clay pigeons are used to throw up in the air and shoot at. (HCO PL 24 Feb 72)1, 2

Hubbard, L. R. (1976). Modern Management Technology Defined. Los Angeles: Church of Scientology of California Publications Organization United States.

Notes

  1. Hubbard postulates that Scientology executives will use unknowledegable staff members as clay pigeons. He implies this right is conferred upon the clay pigeon shooting seniors by their knowledge of this policy. ↩
  2. From LA Times (18 December 2005): “Miscavige, a firearms enthusiast, introduced Cruise to skeet shooting at the compound, according to an ex-member who said the actor was so grateful that he sent an automated clay-pigeon launcher to replace an older, hand-pulled model. With Cruise due to return in a few days, Miscavige again ordered all hands on deck, this time to renovate the base’s skeet range, the ex-member said.” ↩
