Re: attached Evanston Review (11 November 1976):
Scientologist unit tells probe of FBI
The National Commission on Law Enforcement and Social Justice (NCLE), sponsored by the Churches of Scientology, has turned its attention to the FBI.A national campaign was launched by NCLE to locate victims of what it terms FBI abusive practices. The commission says it is investigating unlawful refusals by the FBI to release files under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), the act enabling citizens to obtain and review government files.
Floyd Saderlund, spokesman for the Illinois Regional Office of the NCLE located in Evanston, says, “We are investigating instances where the media have been refused files under act by the FBI to thwart investigative reporting.”
The Freedom of Information Act is the only tool to correct this.
